Supported by the European Commission as part of the Horizon Europe programme, the fourth joint call for proposals from the Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) partnership continues the work of the JPI Urban Europe initiative. Bringing together 28 countries and 67 partners, it supports the European innovation ecosystem in the urban field for the fourth consecutive year. In France, the National Research Agency (ANR) participate in this call by funding the french partners.

The AGROECOLOGY partnership, co-funded by the European Union in the framework of Horizon Europe, joining the European Commission as well as 72 partners across 26 countries Member states, associated countries, and third countries, is a research and innovation program that aims at quickening the agroecological transition by developing a network of living labs et research infrastructure, allowing the production of innovating solutions by a multilateral approach and real condition situations experimenting.

Funding agencies from Europe and Africa and JPI Climate are launching an international call for proposals to fund research projects and innovation, “Climate Services for Risk Reduction in West Africa”. The overall strategic aim of the CS4RRA initiative is to develop pathways to climate-resilience in Western Africa by contributing to long-term multinational cooperation.

As long-standing partners in research and innovation, France and South Korea reaffirmed their desire to join forces to step up their scientific cooperation by identifying promising thematic priorities at the 8th Joint Strategic Committee on Science and Technology, held in Paris on 20 June 2023*.

The Belmont Forum, an international partnership of research funding organizations of which ANR is a member, is launching a call for proposals in the area of oceanic science. The call, entitled “OCEAN 2: Towards the Ocean We Want : Biodiversity and Ecosystem Sustainability for Nature and Human Well-being”, aims at coordinating actions and projects through a transdisciplinary approach, fostering co-creation, co-design, and co-implementation of innovative solutions to address global environmental challenges related to the ocean, its biodiversity from genes to ecosystems.

The signing of the bilateral agreement between the ANR and the JST (Japanese science and technology agency) for the promotion of scientific and technological cooperation has led to the opening up of the emblematic Japanese CREST programme (Core Research for Evolutionary Science and Technology) to the participation of French teams in Japanese projects.

Biodiversa+ is launching its new transnational research call co-funded by the European Commission: “BiodivConnect”. This call will fund inter- and transdisciplinary research to restore ecosystem functioning, integrity, and connectivity across all types of ecosystems and habitats, worldwide.

The overseas territories are strategic areas for French research, due to: their environmental, climatic, health, societal and cultural specificities; their geographical position in key areas (Caribbean, Amazonia, Indian Ocean, Pacific); their potential for scientific and diplomatic influence at the regional (basins) and international levels.

Greenland now occupies a unique place at the crossroads of major scientific issues and growing geopolitical tensions. A key territory for the understanding of global climate and environmental dynamics, it is also affected by rapid transformations affecting its ecosystems, natural resources, infrastructure and inhabitants, the majority of whom are indigenous.

The France 2030 plan aims to bolster France’s global position in the area of innovation and research. To confirm its position at the highest international level, France is investing massively across the entire value chain, from fundamental research to innovation and experimentation. To remain competitive, it is putting in place the resources needed to innovate, transform, promote and attract or retain the best international talents in France.

In the frame of the European Partnership for Personalised Medicine, EP PerMed, (supported by the European Union under Horizon Europe, Grant Agreement N° 101137129), the French National Research Agency (ANR), in collaboration with 19 funding organisations, launches a joint transnational call for proposals as Research, Innovation and Technology Call on “Test and Demonstration of Multimodal Data Approaches for Personalised Medicine, acronym: MultiPMData2026”. The available budget for this call is over 14.8 Mio€.

The French Research Agency is participating in the Joint Transnational Call “PREVENT-OO” launched under the umbrella of the Partnership ERA4Health (“Fostering a European Research Area for Health”). The call will fund research that improves the understanding of the causes for obesity, overweight and associated complications by using a mechanistic/experimental approach, as well as studies that employ public health strategies to prevent the onset and progression of overweight and obesity in transitional periods of life.

The second ERDERA call aims at facing the challenges of diagnosis in rare diseases. Accurately diagnosing RDs is a major challenge, with approximately 50% of individuals with a suspected rare genetic condition remaining undiagnosed or misdiagnosed despite standard clinical genetics care. In addition, RDs of non-genetic origin - estimated to account for about 10% of all RD cases - remain an under-investigated area. On average, it takes around 5 years to establish an accurate diagnosis for people living with a RD (PLWRD). Given the complexity of these disorders, multiple and complementary diagnostic approaches are required. This complexity underpins the objectives of this call.

Le PEPR ATLASea a pour objectif de séquencer et analyser des milliers de génomes de référence issus de la biodiversité marine. Il s’inscrit dans une dynamique internationale dont le but est de mieux comprendre le vivant à travers l’analyse de génomes représentatifs de sa diversité et issus de centaines de millions d’années d’évolution.

Depuis plus de dix ans, le cloud est devenu essentiel à nos systèmes informatiques. Son modèle, initialement basé sur de grands centres de données, évolue vers le « edge computing » ou « continuum numérique », notamment via le déploiement de clouds hybrides sécurisés et interopérables qui permettront à terme de traiter de grands volumes de données de manière rapide et efficace.

Les besoins en modélisation, simulation, traitement des données, méthodes et outils mathématiques sont de plus en plus importants, émanant du monde de la recherche, du secteur économique, et de la société, pour aborder ces grandes problématiques : changement climatique, biodiversité, épidémies, santé, mobilité. Pour répondre à ces enjeux, la communauté mathématique française, dont la qualité est internationalement reconnue, se mobilise au côté des autres sciences en développant les nécessaires interactions avec par exemple la physique, la biologie, l’informatique, les géosciences, l’écologie, ou encore les humanités et sciences sociales. Ces collaborations pluridisciplinaires permettront de renforcer l’innovation et le transfert technologique. Fort de sa richesse interdisciplinaire, le CNRS coordonne le PEPR « Mathématiques pour le Vivant, l’Environnement, la Société » - Maths-Vives, d'un budget de 50 M€ sur 10 ans.

L’amplification des extrêmes hydrologiques, du fait du changement global, est un défi majeur de nos sociétés au 21ème siècle qui nécessite d’agir à tous les niveaux. L’eau est un bien commun indispensable à la vie et au développement socio-économique. Elle est une ressource, un milieu vivant, un élément vital tant pour la régulation du climat, le fonctionnement des écosystèmes et le développement humain. La France a été pionnière dans le monde pour la mise en place d’une gouvernance par bassin hydrographique, mais le postulat que tout pouvait être résolu à l’échelle du bassin s’érode. Le global rattrape le local et de nouveaux questionnements apparaissent. Ces défis doivent être pris en charge par des approches plus intégrées, systémiques, multi-acteurs pour co-construire des solutions adaptées à des réalités contrastées. Il s’agit de changer de paradigme en replaçant l’eau comme bien commun, élément central des socio-écosystèmes soumis à des forçages climatiques et anthropiques.

L'objectif du PEPR SPIN est de repousser les frontières de la connaissance en électronique de spin afin de préparer un nouveau cycle d’innovations prenant en compte en amont la frugalité numérique, dans les domaines du calcul, de l’internet des objets, de la logique reprogrammable, et des capteurs intelligents. Le PEPR SPIN contribue à ces objectifs tout en cherchant à structurer en profondeur la communauté scientifique nationale en spintronique et renforcer encore son attractivité, pour tirer pleinement parti de son fort potentiel. L’objectif de cet Appel à Projets (AAP) est de ressourcer et compléter le programme de travail initial du PEPR dans le but de capitaliser sur de nouvelles opportunités visant à amplifier son impact, en cohérence avec sa mission et ses objectifs.

Le PEPR exploratoire « Sous-sol, bien commun » vise à mieux évaluer la demande nationale future en ressources et usages du sous-sol, à caractériser les potentiels géologiques, à faire émerger des technologies innovantes et à définir les conditions d’une utilisation responsable et durable, en travaillant à la fois sur la connaissance géologique du sous-sol et sur les enjeux économiques, sociaux, environnementaux et réglementaires de son utilisation.

Les territoires d’Outre-mer habités, en raison de leurs spécificités environnementales (pour la plupart des îles de la zone intertropicale), économiques et sociales, concentrent nombre des grands enjeux planétaires contemporains. Ils abritent 80% de la biodiversité française, dont 4/5 des espèces endémiques des territoires français, 55 000 km2 de récifs coralliens et lagons, soit plus de 10% de la superficie mondiale corallienne ainsi que 20 % des atolls mondiaux et plus de 7 millions d'hectares de forêt tropicale en Guyane. Leurs populations sont très dépendantes de la biodiversité et des services écosystémiques qui sont impactés par le changement climatique. Par ailleurs, les activités anthropiques ont, dans ces territoires, des conséquences graves sur l'environnement, la biodiversité et la santé humaine.

En adéquation avec le plan d’action mondial pour combattre la résistance aux antimicrobiens adopté par l’OMS en 2015 et à la publication en novembre 2016 de la feuille de route interministérielle pour la maîtrise de l’antibiorésistance en France, le Gouvernement par l’entremise du Secrétariat général pour l’investissement a décidé de mettre en place un programme prioritaire de recherche (PPR) sur l’antibiorésistance doté de 40 millions d’euros sur dix ans dans le cadre du troisième programme d’investissement d’avenir (PIA3), intégré dans le plan France 2030.

Les industries culturelles et créatives (ICC) sont une filière de premier plan essentielle au rayonnement économique et culturel de la France. L'État en a fait une de ses stratégies nationales d'accélération et a confié au CNRS le pilotage du Programme national de recherche Industries culturelles et créatives (PEPR ICCARE), qui constitue le volet recherche de cette stratégie.

Une analyse approfondie montre que le système éducatif français produit des résultats limités en ce qui concerne la maîtrise des compétences fondamentales, l’égalité des chances, le bien-être scolaire ou encore les choix d’orientation. La France possède pourtant des forces de recherche importantes et susceptibles de contribuer à l'amélioration du système éducatif, mais elles ne sont pas mobilisées de façon optimale. Le Programme Prioritaire de Recherche « Sciences pour l’Éducation » ambitionne de créer les conditions d'une meilleure structuration de la communauté scientifique nationale et un renforcement de ses liens avec les acteurs du domaine.

During the second meeting of the Franco-Indian Joint Committee for Science and Technology held in Delhi on January 18, 2024, the French National Research Agency (ANR) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Government of India agreed to launch new calls for co-funded projects to continue and intensify scientific cooperation between France and India.

The European Partnership for a sustainable Future of Food Systems (FutureFoodS) launches its 2nd co-funded call for transnational research projects. This call for proposals is co-funded by the European Commission.

Designed to improve France’s success rate in European Research Council (ERC) calls, JCJC breakthrough is a funding programme set up by ANR as part of its Work Programme 2026. Only JCJC laureates who wish candidate to ERC call in any ERC research disciplines (LS, PE, SH) could apply to JCJC breakthrough programme.

In the frame of the European Partnership for Personalised Medicine, EP PerMed, (supported by the European Union under Horizon Europe, Grant Agreement N° 101137129), the French National Research Agency (ANR), in collaboration with 38 funding organisations, launches a joint transnational call for proposals on “Personalised Medicine for CARdiovascular, MEtabolic and kidNey diseases, acronym: CARMEN2026”. The available budget for this call is over 38 Mio€.

Chlordecone is an organochlorine insecticide used worldwide since the 1960s. Due to its high toxicity, biomagnification and long-term persistence in the environment, it was banned in France in 1990, except in the French West Indies, where it was authorized for soil application to control banana weevils until 1993. Over more than two decades of use, this pesticide has heavily contaminated ecosystems, with deleterious consequences for the environment and health.

The purpose of this program is to encourage research actors to create new structured partnerships through the creation of "Joint Laboratories" between a SME or an intermediate-sized enterprise and a research laboratory. A Joint Laboratory is defined by the signing of a contract defining its operation, including:

More than 30 funding agencies participate in the M-ERA.NET Call 2026 (edition 2027 for ANR) to fund ambitious transnational RTD projects addressing materials research and innovation supporting the European Green Deal and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The call is structured in 6 topics, 4 of which are eligible for ANR.

The EU Partnership on Animal Health and Welfare (EUPAHW) aims to ensure that livestock, poultry and aquaculture systems operate sustainably for the benefit of animal health and welfare and the society. The 2026 co-funded transnational call, which is the second EUPAHW call, brings together national and regional financial resources from Ministries and Funding Organisations (FOs) in 24 countries—each responsible for supporting research and innovation—with co-funding from the European Union.

The Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership is launching its third joint transnational call entitled “Digitalisation and Innovation for Resilient Marine Ecosystems, Businesses, and Communities to Strengthen the EU Blue Economy Competitiveness”. The Partnership pledges to boost green and digital transitions of economic activities related to the regional sea basins bordering the EU, namely the Atlantic Ocean, the Baltic Sea, the Black sea, the Mediterranean Sea and the North Sea.
