Integrated Approaches to Human Migration/Mobility in an Era of Rapid Global Change - Belmont Forum 2022

The Belmont Forum, an international partnership of research funding agencies that ANR is part of, launches a call aimed at fostering integrated systems approach on migration and mobility and its intersection with Global Change. In order to facilitate the constitution of transnational and transdisciplinary research consortia meeting the call’s eligibility requirements, the Belmont Forum invites prospective applicants to register and participate in several capacity building and networking events which will take place between February and June. Following an extension of the deadline, applicants must submit their proposals by 12 August 2022, 22:00 CEST.

The call aims at strengthening understanding of the interactions between migration, mobility and contemporary global changes through interdisciplinary research.

Research proposals should deliver on at least two of the three following areas, with cross-cutting linkages across all three areas encouraged:

  • studying the many factors influencing migration and mobility, through modelling and data-driven approaches;
  • studying and creating integrative governance, legal and policy frameworks around migration/mobility and Global Change;
  • studying and integrating data and frameworks on vulnerable communities under a variety of contexts, with perspectives inclusive of the Global South and understudied groups such as women, the elderly, or people with disabilities, Indigenous populations, and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

Research proposals and consortia should include perspectives from the social and human sciences as well as from the natural and physical sciences, and effectively involve societal partners in order to co-design and co-develop innovative approaches. The transdisciplinary nature of the consortium and the active input of stakeholders (including - but not limited to - relevant policymakers, regulators, NGOs, communities, or industry) is a key criterion and should be clearly demonstrated in the application.

For further information about the abovementioned events, the call themes and general eligibility criteria, applicants are invited to consult the Migration 2022 dedicated webpage on the Belmont Forum’s website: https://www.belmontforum.org/cras#migration2022
