Identification of key regulators of legume seed adaptation to environmental fluctuations – REGULEG
Instability of legume seed yield and protein content due to environmental fluctuations, in particular drought and high temperature limits their wide adoption in Europe, and breeding for stabilized nutritional quality and yield is needed. Producing highly vigorous seeds is an additional key lever to increase crop production efficiency. Mitigation of climate change effects on legume seed physiological quality and composition represents thus a major and urgent challenge for the seed industry.
Identification of novel proteins controlling persistence of cell migration – NovProtMig
A novel molecular machine that regulates the persistence of cell migration
Identification of patients at risk of torsade de pointes, a life-threatening arrhythmia, using ECGs and deep learning – DeepECG4U
Some cardiovascular diseases (congenital long QT syndrome, cLQTS) or drug-induced long QT syndrome (diLQTS), can cause Torsade de Pointes (TdP), a life-threatening arrhythmia. On the ECG, the QT interval is prolonged, but the waveforms have specificities, thus being poorly predictive of TdP. New predictive approaches are needed to improve physician assessment and reduce the risk of TdP events.
Identifying diatom regulatory long noncoding (lnc)RNAs for increased biomass production for biorefinery applications – DiaLincs
Diatoms are very promising organisms for biofuel production since they can produce high quantities of lipids when nutrient depleted. We hypothesize that diatom lncRNAs expressed under nutrient stress are likely to be major players in the pathways regulating energy and biomass production which is supported by preliminary data.

Impact of Microhomology Mediated End-Joining DNA repair pathway in vivo – i-MMEJ
Double strand breaks (DSB) are a severe threat to genome integrity in living organisms. In the wild environment animal cells are exposed to external DNA damaging such as chemicals or ionizing radiation. In this project, we studied the importance of MMEJ/NHEJ in living animal context by creating Clytia and zebrafish mutants for genes involved in MMEJ or NHEJ.
