Mitigation and Adaptation in Cultural Heritage Landscapes: Lessons from Transhumant Pastoral Systems for Managing Novel Climate Risks – Pasture Adaptation
As our climate changes, it is important to reinforce the adaptive capacity of heritage livelihood systems and to recognize that cultural heritage offers capacity and lessons for both mitigation of climate change and adaptation. We examine landscapes of pastoralism in France, Norway, and Spain to understand: how they are threatened by climate change ; what they can tell us about ecological knowledge and social organization for climate resilience ; how can we sustain them.
Balloon Observations and mOdelling for the Stratosphere - Troposphere Transition in the Tropical Region – BOOST3R
The BOOST3R project came in complement and support of the larger-scale Strateole 2 project. The latter is a French-American project, supported and implemented by CNES and coordinated by Albert Hertzog (LMD). It comprises three long-duration balloon campaigns to observe the tropical lower stratosphere, with fifty balloons overall, each flying up to 3 months near 20 km altitude.
Insecurity and spaces: social distribution and political participation – INSOCPOL
Crime-related insecurity is a major is-sue in political debates and public policies. Our goal is to show how this insecurity varies across spaces. The Paris Region is a suitable ground for such a project: victimisation rates and indicators of feelings of insecurity are higher there than their nationwide average and it includes a wide range of different spaces.
Bio-olfacticides: More Food and less pesticides in insect control – DEMETER
Computational reverse chemical ecology is an innovative chemical ecology approach that uses the olfactory proteins themselves to accelerate the identification of new semiochemicals active on the behavior of insect pests, by virtual screen followed by experimental tests. It can thus lead to biocontrol solutions, by disrupting major olfaction-related functions such as finding food, adequate oviposition sites or a sexual partner.
Hybrid Diamond-Metal Structures from Diamondoids: Synthesis and Catalytic Applications – HYBRIDIAMS
The Hybridiams research project aimed at exploring the reactivity, and exploiting the properties, of thermodynamically extremely stable and very regular carbon cages of nanometric size called diamondoids (or molecular nanodiamonds) in connection with transition metals catalysis and the formation of sensors.

Ordered Porous Inorganic Fluorides as efficient Heterogeneous Catalysts – OPIFCat
The innovation of this project is to prepare inorganic fluorinated materials as efficient, selective and stable catalysts under the harsh fluorination conditions of chlorinated reagents under HF gas. It aims to understand the catalyst structure-activity relationship and to establish a “catalyst library” with various strength of Lewis acidity which will help chemists to rapidly select the most appropriate catalyst for the Cl/F exchange as a function of the reactant characteristics.
