Evolution of the Cambrian and Ordovician Biodiversification Onset Over Space and Time – ECO-BOOST
The ECO-BOOST project aims to compare the diversity of modeled species with empirical data based on fossils, then to project them onto new paleogeographic reconstructions, in order to propose the first reconstruction, through time and space, of the Early Paleozoic biodiversification.
Physics-informed Artificial Intelligence for Cutting Brake Emissions from Electric Vehicles – PI-CUBE
The aim of this project is to develop a new braking control system for friction brakes, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to eliminate or at least minimize particulate emissions and noise (squeal) from electric vehicles, while efficiently meeting the demand for deceleration to a standstill in an energy-efficient manner. The principle is to optimize the combination of friction and regenerative brakes to limit these emissions.
Sustainable RECovery of vALuable metaLs in bauxite residue – RECALL
In a circular economy context, the interdisciplinary RECALL project aims to develop sustainable processes to recover iron and critical metals from bauxite residues while exploring the economic impact of the developed process in terms of social welfare in which potential environmental and health impacts are taken into account.
Co-construction of adaptation scenarios for managing coastal risks in the context of climate change in coastal communities in France and Quebec – ARICO
A partnership approach to strengthen adaptation to coastal risks in a context of climate change.
Impact of STress on uRban trEEs on ciTy air quality – sTREEt
Better understanding the effects of urban stress on trees (physiology and emissions of volatile organic compounds) and their consequences on air quality.
High-temperature & high-polarization cuprate multiferroics – HTHPCM
Magnetoelectric multiferroics which combine electric and magnetic dipole orders, are multifunctional materials with high potential in new technologies. It can be used to reduce computer memory energy consumption, to improve magnetic field sensors or in spintronic applications. Unfortunately, too few ME crystals are known to date, and even less could lead to industrial applications. Indeed, they usually give a small response and need low functioning temperature to exhibit the desired properties.
Infrared absorption continua: Laboratory studies, calculations and applications to the modeling of the atmospheres of telluric planets – COMPLEAT
Measuring and modeling the IR absorption spectra of H2O, CH4 and H2 mixed with CO2 is of great importance for planetary sciences. These spectra include a contribution due to the local absorption by the rovibrational lines of each species and a broadband contribution (continua) which are poorly characterized but crucial to understand the radiative budget, the composition of planetary atmospheres and to accurately model the formation, evolution, and present atmospheric state of telluric planets.
