Open calls and preannouncements

The Generic Call for Proposals (AAPG) is the main call of the French National Research Agency (ANR). It is open to all scientific communities and public or private stakeholders involved in French research. It supports project-based research across all scientific fields and disciplines, giving full prominence to fundamental, exploratory, or applied research, guided by the curiosity of researchers.

The Belmont Forum, an international partnership of research funding organizations of which ANR is a member, is launching a call for proposals in the area of oceanic science. The call, entitled “OCEAN 2: Towards the Ocean We Want : Biodiversity and Ecosystem Sustainability for Nature and Human Well-being”, aims at coordinating actions and projects through a transdisciplinary approach, fostering co-creation, co-design, and co-implementation of innovative solutions to address global environmental challenges related to the ocean, its biodiversity from genes to ecosystems.

The fifth Joint Call 2026 of the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETPartnership), co-funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe programme, brings together over 60 funding agencies from 35 countries. This coordinated effort aims to support innovative projects that advance the energy transition. In France, the French National Research Agency (ANR) and the Pays de la Loire Region Council are participating of this call.

The first Joint Transnational Call 2026 of the Raw Materials Partnership is open for transnational research and innovation projects across the raw materials value chain, from mining to recycling and reuse. The call will support projects that contribute to sustainable and resilient systems for the green and digital transition. In France, the French National Research Agency (ANR) and the Center of Nickel Research Technology Environment Competitiveness (CNRTEC) of New Caledonia are participating of this call.

More than 30 funding agencies participate in the M-ERA.NET Call 2026 (edition 2027 for ANR) to fund ambitious transnational RTD projects addressing materials research and innovation supporting the European Green Deal and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The call is structured in 6 topics, 4 of which are eligible for ANR.

PRIMA Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda identified 8 operational objectives for facing Mediterranean challenges related to Water management, Farming systems and Agro-food chains. The European Partnership Water4All – Water security for the plantet, co-funded by the European Union within the frame of the Horizon Europe programme, is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of its new Joint Transnational Call on “Sustainable Water Management (excluding extreme events and circularity)” that will open on 8 September 2026.

The Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership, a European partnership under the European Commission’s Research & Innovation Framework Programme Horizon Europe, is pleased to pre-announce its fourth Joint transnational call. This fourth Call is co-branded by the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development as a means of stimulating new initiatives in co-designed and co-delivered knowledge and solutions for a sustainable ocean economy as part of the Ocean Decade Action Framework.

The European Partnership “FOrests, forestry, and the forest-based sector: REsearch and innovation for a Sustainable Transition (FOREST)” aims to mobilise research and innovation to accelerate the transition to a sustainable use of forest resources and a circular, timber-based, bioeconomy. Serving as the primary instrument for collaboration among stakeholders in EU Member States and Associated Countries, the partnership will facilitate coordinated research and innovation (R&I) actions in order to reduce fragmentation and foster innovation and competitiveness in the forest-based sector. The purpose is to support further transformation towards biodiverse, climate-adaptive, multifunctional and sustainable forest management, innovating within the bioeconomy and helping achieve an increasingly productive, resource-efficient and resilient sector.

Biodiversa+ will launch its new transnational research call, co-funded by the European Commission on the 9th of September. The Call will be on “Novel ecosystems: biodiversity, socio-ecological consequences and future trajectories (BiodivFuture)”. Get ready and start building your project!

The EU Partnership on Animal Health and Welfare (EUPAHW) aims to ensure that livestock, poultry and aquaculture systems operate sustainably for the benefit of animal health and welfare and the society. The 2026 co-funded transnational call, which is the second EUPAHW call, brings together national and regional financial resources from Ministries and Funding Organisations (FOs) in 24 countries—each responsible for supporting research and innovation—with co-funding from the European Union.
