Sustainable Cities and Buildings
Most of the people of the world live in cities and one of the overwhelming challenges facing us in the 21st century will be to deal with the continuous growth of urban population in ways which are sustainable. Cities are the centers of innovation and economic development, but they also have a major impact which is, more often than not, negative, on the environment. Moreover, structural deep evolutions are happening, including demographic evolution with population ageing, depletion of some natural resources, or necessity to preserve environment.
The aim of this call for proposals entitled “Sustainable Cities and Buildings” is to foster the development of research projects on multiple fields: life’s environment, building energy efficiency, reduction of cities and urban activities carbon footprints, renewable energies integration; and those fields could be approached on different pertinent scales, from building-scale to urban area.
The call is focused on four major themes:
- Urban dynamics and organisations, practices and mobilities
- Energy positive et weak environmental impact building, construction, block
- Urban environment , ecosystems, metabolism, ressources
- Multi-scale and transversal approches, governance

The appelsprojetsrecherche.fr portal centralises all information on calls for proposals and calls for applications from ADEME, ANR, Inserm including ANRS, Anses and INCa. It provides a simplified access to upcoming and ongoing calls, giving a greater visibility to funding opportunities. Following their closing date, the calls remain published for a few months.
