The French National Research Agency launches in partnership with the Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) a programme called 'ASTRID': Specific support for research works and innovation defense. This programme is funded entirely by the DGA and is housed at the ANR which ensures its implementation.
ASTRID is a programme dedicated to support small research projects with a highly exploratory and innovative nature, with a duration of less than 36 months and whose applications are dual (both civilian and military).
It aims to:
The ASTRID programme seeks to identify potential breakthroughs, source of innovation beneficial to defense field, civilian research and industry.
It is expected that the follow-up in those projects can be undertaken within the framework of other ANR thematic calls for proposals or other funding mechanisms such as PEA Programmes, upstream studies of the DGA.

The appelsprojetsrecherche.fr portal centralises all information on calls for proposals and calls for applications from ADEME, ANR, Inserm including ANRS, Anses and INCa. It provides a simplified access to upcoming and ongoing calls, giving a greater visibility to funding opportunities. Following their closing date, the calls remain published for a few months.
