Nanotechnologies and Nanosystems (P2N)

The P2N programme aims at strengthening national excellence in the areas of micro and nano-engineering (ranging from core technologies to systems), and speed up technology transfer to French firms in order to exploit the extraordinary potential of the nanotechnologies.

From a scientific point of view, P2N programme aims to take advantage of the new properties and effects occurring at the nano-scale level and use them within advanced architectures for communications and data processing. Its main objectives are:

  • Develop new processes and technologies
  • Reinforce the field of nano-characterization
  • Develop nanosimulation, especially for areas where applications are at high stakes
  • Bring out new scientific fields related to quantum properties engineering (intrication or coherence control) and Chemistry in confined environments
  • Explore the potential of micro/nanotechnologies and micro/nanosystems in areas where a strong impact is expected such as Health, Energy and Environment, with a view towards Responsible Development
  • Ensure the responsible development of nanotechnologies through the analysis of the various stakeholders, the societal impact of “nano/micro” breakthroughs and the associated regulation mechanisms
  • Promote the emergence of new strategies and at the same time the joint production of knowledge and know-how by academic researchers and industrials partners in order to improve the transfers between Fundamental Research and Industrial Research.

The themes of this call for proposal are:

  • Theme 1: Synthesis and fabrication of Nanomaterials (nanowires, nanotubes, graphene…) and Chemistry in confined environments
  • Theme 2: Nanoelectronics including More Moore and beyond CMOS approaches, in particular via quantum engineering
  • Theme 3: Nanodevices and Nanosystems allowing the heterogeneous integration of new multiphysics functions (optics, mechanics, electromagnetism, acoustics, thermic...)
  • Theme 4: Nanotechnologies and Nanosystems for Health, Biology and Agrofood
  • Theme 5: Nanotechnologies and Nanosystems for Sustainable Development, including Green Technologies, Energy and Risk Management

This programme is cofunded by the French Ministry of Defense (Direction Générale de l'Armement – French Armament Procurement Agency)
