Nanotechnologies and Nanosystems - P2N

The P2N programme aims at strengthening national excellence in the areas of micro and nano-engineering (ranging from core technologies to systems), and speed up technology transfer to French firms in order to exploit the extraordinary potential of the nanotechnologies.

Thus, P2N programme aims to take advantage of the new properties and effects occurring at the nano-scale level and use them in micro-nanosystems that require a high degree of integration and are dedicated to aaplications. Its main objectives are:

    • Promote the emergence of new strategies and at the same time the joint production of knowledge and know-how by academic researchers and industrials partners in order to improve the transfers between Fundamental Research and Industrial Research.
    • Promote the road from proof of concept to demonstrator
    • Develop new processes and technologies
    • Reinforce the field of nano-characterization
    • Develop nanosimulation, especially for areas where applications are at high stakes
    • Bring out new scientific fields related to quantum properties engineering (entanglement or coherence control) and chemistry in confined environments
    • Explore the potential of micro/nanotechnologies and micro/nanosystems in areas where a strong impact is expected such as Health, Energy and Environment, with a view towards Responsible Development
    • Ensure the responsible development of nanotechnologies by taking into account the societal, cultural and economic impact of “nano/micro” breakthroughs

The themes of this call for proposal were reorganized so as to highlight the evolution of the stakes. Besides the main domain of nanotechnology and nanosystems, the new theme on simulation and modeling aims at taking advantage of high power computing and advanced theory for realistic and predictive virtual experiments of nanosystems. The theme dedicated to integrative research aims at identifying a limited number of more ambitious projects related to enhanced integration of nanotechnologies in functional nanosystems.

      1. Nanotechnologies, Nanodevices et Micro-Nanosystems
      2. Simulation and modelling of nanosystems
      3. Nanotechnologies for biology, health and agro-food
      4. Nanotechnologies for energy and environment
      5. Integrative research projects for nanosystems.

P2N programme is complementary to the other ANR and “Investissement d’avenir” thematic programmes that must be looked at.

This programme is cofunded by the French Ministry of Defense (Direction Générale de l'Armement – French Armament Procurement Agency)

The programme is open to bilateral projects cofunded with Norway within the frame of an agreement with the Research Council Norway (RCN). A specific annex on the web site will present the modalities of the cooperation.
