In 2017/2018, the strategic grouping of expertise in molecular and cell biology based on the networking of 3 LabEx: INRT, NetRNA and MitoCross, of Strasbourg, created a unique environment for the interdisciplinary training of future high-level researchers through the Integrative Molecular and Cellular Biology (IMCBio) graduate school (EUR). In 2021, the IMCBio graduate school was incorporated into the IMCBio+ Interdisciplinary Thematic Institute (ITI) ensuring activities for an extended perimeter that includes LabEx HepSYS in addition to the 3 initial LabEx mentioned above.
The coordinator of the IMCBio EUR is since November 2023, G. Graulier and since July 2023 the EUR coordinator is supported by A. Velten, who works for both IMCBio EUR and IMCBio+ ITI.
Following the reception of comments from the Jury of the mid-term evaluation early in 2024, the EUR implemented several actions. Administratively, the Cluster Research (formerly LabEx) HepSYS was officially fully incorporated in the EUR perimeter. Briefly, further EUR actions included: (i) Redesign of the master program with the opening of a brand new International IMCBio master track, fully in English, included into the Life Science Master of the Life Science Faculty of Strasbourg (opening in September 2025); (ii) Third edition of our Undergraduate Summer school to increase our visibility and international attractivity at master level; (iii) Initiatives to reinforce the academic – private sector relationships. In addition, at master level we maintained our yearly program. At PhD level, we organized a successful PhD selection following the process implemented earlier. Importantly, our recruitment rate for Inter-LabEx projects remained high IMCBio EUR project with all the fellowships proposed granted. This year we also received results of mid-term re-evalutations with the EUR project approved until 2028 and the ITI IMCBio+ also positively evaluated within the University with the highest possible grade: A+.
