The ANR joins the world’s major research funding bodies to support transnational projects on global change
The first call for proposals will be launched in 2012 with a total budget of around 20 M€. It will be funded and implemented in collaboration between the Belmont Forum and the G8HORCS. This "International Opportunities Fund call for proposals" will focus on two priority themes:
- Conservation and security of freshwater
- Vulnerability of coastal systems
The ANR has committed to fund French teams involved in the selected projects. This agreement is related to the ANR programme “Society and Environmental Changes”
The funding agreement of the Belmont Forum gathers the major research funding organisations of the developed and develpoing countries: CSIRO (Australia), FAPESP (Brazil, Sao Paulo State), NSERC and SSHRC (Canada), ANR (France), DFG (Germany), the Ministry of Earth science in India, JST (Japan), NRF (South Africa), ESRC and NERC (UK) and NSF (USA).
