Insights into the Global Research Council's Annual Meeting

The 4th annual meeting of the Global Research Council took place in Tokyo on 26-28 May 2015. During the plenary assembly held on May 27th and co-hosted by Japan and South Africa, the Global Research Council adopted two declarations, one regarding Breakthrough Reasearch Funding while the other concerned Building Research and Education Capacity's reinforcement. Michael Matlosz, CEO of the French National Research Agency, participated in the meeting.

The 4th Annual Meeting of the Global Research Council opened in Tokyo on Monday 26. The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa were co-organising the event.

The international event brought together CEOs and presidents of research funding agencies from all around the world. Michael Matlosz, president and CEO of the French National Research Agency, took part in the debates.

During May 27th plenary assembly, attended by more than sixty heads of research funding agencies, the GRC adopted two declerations. The first declaration concerns Breakthrough Research Funding, while the second text deals with reinforcing Building Research and Education Capacity throughout the world.

A status rapport on the implementation of diverse open access policies was submitted to all the participants.
