China, ANR's leading non-European partner

27 January 2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between France and the People’s Republic of China. For this occasion, the ANR presents its cooperation with China, the agency’s leading non-European partner in terms of collaborative research projects co-funded.

Several events will be organised in 2014 to celebrate Franco-Chinese friendship, and in particular in science. The research cooperation between both countries officially started in 1978 via the signature of an intergovernmental agreement.

The French National Research Agency now plays a major role in the France-China scientific cooperation, through its collaborations with the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).

55 Franco-Chinese collaborative projects have been co-funded by ANR since 2007 in several fields for up to €15 M.

In 2014, ANR continues its fruitful collaboration with the NSFC through the opening of its generic call for proposals to Franco-Chinese collaborations in the field of Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies. The agency also participates in a multilateral "China-Europe" call for proposals in social sciences.
