Bs -> mu mu gamma: novel measurement and litmus test of flavour anomalies – GammaRare
We propose to use the measurement of the rare, radiative decay Bs0 ? µ+µ-? -- in particular the «indirect« measurement, i.e. without detection of the photon -- as a strategy to tell apart two alternative explanations of the so-called anomalies in the semi-leptonic decays of B mesons. One explanation is in terms of underestimated systematic uncertainties; the other one is in terms of genuine new physics.
Hidden water and landscape erosion – HiLandEr
The catastrophic flooding in the upland catchments of the Ahr River, Germany, in summer 2021 demonstrated how climate change might impact European landscape. A key component of the hydro-sedimentology is the partitioning of water flow between the surface and groundwater. The water pathways control the flow of surface water and sediment release. In this project we bring together an interdisciplinary team to study the interplay between the hydrogeology and landscape erosion.
DisEntangling Quasi-geostrophic motions and INternal waves in high resolution satellite observations of the Ocean – EQUINOX
Upcoming wide-swath altimetric missions (CNES/NASA SWOT, launch date 2021) is an exceptional opportunity for the observation of the ocean. The project adresses a challenge that appeared with this novel instrument and related to the superimposition of oceanic slow (week or longer) and fast (day or faster) variabilities. This project aims at developing methods in order to distinguish slow and fast motions and map their geographical distributions.

Digital Materials - An industrial Reality In Motion – RealIMotion
Many strategic industries rely heavily on metallurgical products. Faced with intense environmental and societal expectations and global competition, these sectors demand more precise models to predict microstructural changes during thermomechanical treatments. New efficient numerical methods are targeted. Numerous industrial applications are involved in the project.
Chemical and optical evolution of TITAn's aerosols under high-energy RADiation – TITARAD
TITARAD aims at building a pioneering image of aerosol formation on Titan, experimentally, theoretically and observationally consistent. It will shed light on how magnetospheric ions and galactic cosmic rays modify the chemical composition and optical properties of the photochemical haze and condensation clouds, and whether the sputtering of aerosol surface material can have some impact on the gas phase, topics that have not been investigated so far.

Strengthening the link between humans and natural ecosystems as a pathway for improving human health and biodiversity worldwide – BIOLINK
Despite global efforts to preserve biodiversity and the climate, sustainability goals remain unmet. Experts urge for a «transformative change« to redefine human-nature relationships. Human-nature connectedness (HNC) is essential for sustainability and human health. However, studies on HNC are limited to adults in Western countries. Research is needed across diverse cultures to explore HNC's global impact and determine how it influences sustainability.
