Roles of cell adhesion and mechanics in cell and tissue polarization – POLCAM
Forward-backward polarization of single cells has been well described, but little is known about the coordinated polarization of cells within epithelial monolayers. Single cell polarization may emerge from a mechanosensitive transition of the actomyosin cytoskeleton. However, it was not clear how and to what extent this symmetry breaking is propagated in a monolayer of cells and the role played by cell-cell junctions.
Impact of Microhomology Mediated End-Joining DNA repair pathway in vivo – i-MMEJ
Double strand breaks (DSB) are a severe threat to genome integrity in living organisms. In the wild environment animal cells are exposed to external DNA damaging such as chemicals or ionizing radiation. In this project, we studied the importance of MMEJ/NHEJ in living animal context by creating Clytia and zebrafish mutants for genes involved in MMEJ or NHEJ.

Safety and Security of Urban Crowded Environments – S2UCRE
Crowded gatherings in public spaces are common in Europe, whether they are festive events (festival of lights in Lyon, Hafengeburstag in Hamburg, European football cup, etc.), or demonstrations ( political, trade-union, etc.). S2UCRE's goal is to help make them safer.

Optimization-based forward musculoskeletal simulation of pathological gait – OMEGA
In this project, we propose to investigate the conception and the use of forward simulators to predict pathological gaits. Challenges lie in the conception of a simulator capable to accurately replicate a given gait, capable to predict the evolution of the gait according to the change in the subject condition, and to analyze and validate gaits obtained from the simulator.
