Efficient and sustainable glass surfaces for pharmacy – HEALTHYGLASS
Despite the strong inertness of primary glass packaging against medicinal drugs and excipient solutions, the challenge of protecting the container from the active molecule and excipient solution that is to be stored still remains. Interactions of reactive excipient solutions with the drug container can alter the glass surface and even produce glass flakes through delamination that causes storage and great sanitary concerns, especially in the case of substances administered intravenously.

Understanding and preventing the photocatalytic cycle responsible for the occurrence of light-struck flavor in white wines and Champagnes – DeLight
The light-struck fault is now in plain light! Thanks to the De-Light project, we have elucidated the photochemical mechanisms responsible for the formation of the drop of light and proposed technical solutions that can prevent its formation while respecting the constraints linked to the viticultural processes in force.
Original Scalable Quantum Mechanical Strategies to Refine High-Resolution Crystallographic Structures of Macromolecules – QuMacroRef
Nowadays, due to impressive technical and financial efforts, ultra-high resolution and quality X-ray diffraction datasets for macromolecules (mainly proteins) are available and their number will increase in the next years. At the moment, there are no methods able to fully exploit the richness of information intrinsically contained in these new sets of data. To overcome this drawback, it is necessary to introduce new quantum mechanics-based techniques to successfully refine structures of proteins
Differences in language learnability across ages – LangAge
This project examines the learning mechanisms and linguistic/cognitive biases deployed by children and adults when they learn a language. We study the acquisition of multiple linguistic levels, from the sound system, to the lexicon, to morphosyntax. The major differences in outcome between learning in children and adults may depend on differences in the input to learners (task 1), the learning mechanisms deployed (task 2), or the linguistic/cognitive biases (task 3).
FoldaRotaxanes for the Versatile Synthesis of Improbable Interlocked Molecules – FoldaRotaxanes
The most popular chemical access to interlocked molecules is currently based on the recognition between the molecular elements to be assembled. Hence, they do not allow the access to any kind of interlocked molecules, especially those that are devoid of any site of interactions. This project aims at solving this problem of limitation by using a strategy based on a novel foldarotaxane structure.
Exploring geological resources and reservoirs Integrity by geophysical prospecTING of clays properties from nano to field scale – ExCiTING
The presence of a low-permeability geological layer (often clay) that covers natural reservoirs is crucial for fluid and energy geological storages. In order to exploit these potentialities, a better knowledge of clays and their imaging are fundamental.
Quantitative study of a threshold response of ERK signalling – ERKtivation
