Choose France for Science – Call for proposals - 2025
The aim of this chairs of excellence programme, for top-level researchers and engineers working abroad, is to offer funding to leading researchers to undertake new major projects in France over a 3-year period. These chairs will be only open to researchers and engineers working abroad who wish to create a team or join a research structure in France. They will enable them to develop their research programmes and serve as a springboard for applying for major European tenders.
Universities, schools and research organisations will, with this in mind, identify international researchers who are willing to move to Europe. The researchers identified will be invited to develop a research project, with the host institution, relating to the following themes in particular:
- Health research
- Climate, biodiversity and sustainable societies
- Digital technology and artificial intelligence
- Space research
- Agriculture, sustainable food, forests and natural resources
- Low-carbon energy
- Digital components, systems and infrastructure
The host institutions, with the support, where necessary, of regional and local authorities and/or companies, will underwrite the funding for these projects.
Applications should be submitted via the “Choose France for Science” platform, operated by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR: French National Research Agency) on behalf of the French State, within the framework of France 2030.
After reviewing these projects, additional funding may be awarded by the French Government under France 2030. This additional funding may be up to 50% of the total amount for the project.
The applicant for the chair, if selected, will be required, within two years of taking up the post, to present a competitive European or international project (e.g. ERC, EIC pathfinder, etc.)
