ANR announced in Work Programme 2017 the creation of Springboard - ERC (T-ERC), an instrument specially dedicated to improving France’s rate of success on ERC calls. T-ERC is open to all ERC research disciplines (LS, PE, SH). The new instrument’s programming is set to hit the ground running, with its first call for projects opening in October. Two additional calls for projects will be launched in 2017.
The T-ERC instrument fosters scientific excellence by supporting applicants having submitted superb-quality scientific proposals, in the broader interest of strengthening French participation and increasing France’s rate of success in upcoming ERC calls. The instrument also aims to strengthen France’s attractiveness as a country by encouraging research organisations to host top-notch applicants deemed "excellent" on a European scale, enabling them to carry out their projects in optimum conditions.
Applicants to the call are invited to submit proposals with a view to improving their ERC application file. The goal is to give researchers a leg up when it comes to submitting a new application, thereby giving them firm foothold from which to succeed.
Projects are funded to the tune of €150 k for a period of 18 months. Funding allocated will fund exclusively personnel and operating expenditures.
ERC funding programmes have become a reference of excellence within and beyond Europe, providing support for the continent’s very best scientific talent. All applications eligible for ANR funding will benefit from dedicated assistance, ensuring them the best chances of success for the next ERC Starting grant and Consolidator grant calls.
MRSEI has taken measures to fast-track decision-making and funding deployment, including:

The appelsprojetsrecherche.fr portal centralises all information on calls for proposals and calls for applications from ADEME, ANR, Inserm including ANRS, Anses and INCa. It provides a simplified access to upcoming and ongoing calls, giving a greater visibility to funding opportunities. Following their closing date, the calls remain published for a few months.
