The ANR joins the ERA-NET ERACoSysMed to launch a first transnational call for research projects on Systems Medicine. This brand new initiative aims to promote transnational research to demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of Systems Medicine.
Thirteen countries are participating in this call for proposals: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain.
The goal of this new call for proposals is to support the development of collaborative demonstrator projects, which will improve our understanding of systems medicine and demonstrate the utility of this approach in a clinical setting. They should clearly demonstrate the translation of systems biology approaches into medical research and practice.
Demonstrator projects must start with a concept based on a clearly defined clinical need. They must use a systems medicine approach in demonstrating a proof of concept, and integrate biomedical data and computational/mathematical models originating from systems biology approaches that can realistically contribute to personalized medicine and the opening of new ways for clinical research delivering better prevention and more efficient and personalized therapies throughout life.
Each project proposal (pre- and full proposal) must involve a minimum of three and a maximum of six partners from at least three and a maximum of six different participating countries (maximum of two partners per country). Consortium members from non-participating countries are welcome, but with own secured resources. The maximum number of partners should not exceed eight (to avoid an imbalance, a minimum of 50% of all partners must be eligible).
Funding will be awarded for a maximum of three years. The ANR will fund only the French partners in the selected projects.
This call will be managed by the ERACoSysMed call office, which is based in Jülich, Germany.
All proposals should be submitted online via the submission website before the respective deadlines (pre-proposals 30 March 2015, 17:00 CET; full proposals 30 June 2015, 17:00 CET).
Each French partner of the selected projects will sign a grant agreement with the ANR. Therefore, he/she will adhere to the methods stipulated in the "Regulations pertaining to the allocation of ANR funding", which may be consulted on the ANR website .
