Multilateral France-Germany-Canada call for international proposals on "epigenomics of complex diseases"
The Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR), the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) together with the Fonds de Recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS) are launching a multilateral joint transnational call for proposals to support epigenomics of common and complex diseases.
The aim of this joint call is to promote and create strategic synergy and multidisciplinary research activities between scientists in France, Germany and Canada at a high level. The multilateral joint transnational call will foster the identification and characterization of epigenomic mechanisms relevant for complex diseases and open new routes for prevention, diagnosis and therapy.
Please note that the following topics will be out of the scope of this call:
- focused approaches that are of a narrow epigenetic dimension and not of a broader systems-oriented epigenomic scope;
- pure large scale mapping activities;
- clinical trials;
- rare diseases and cancer research.
Joint research proposals may be submitted by applicants belonging to one of the following categories (according to country/regional regulations): academia, clinical/public health sector and enterprise. Only transnational projects will be funded. Each consortium submitting a proposal must involve a minimum of three and a maximum of six distinct research groups from all three countries participating in the call. Research groups from other countries may be associated with proposals if these groups are able to secure their own funding.

There will be a one-stage submission procedure of joint full proposals (in English) according to the provided template. Electronic submission via the official submission website is mandatory.
Please note that no proposal submission will be accepted directly by the ANR.
Each French partner of the selected projects will sign a grant agreement with the ANR. Therefore, the French applicants need to comply with the eligibility criteria of ANR. For information regarding ANR’s rules, please refer to the “Appendix for French applicants” available on this webpage.
