ERA-CVD 2020 Joint Transnational Call for Proposals on « Prevention of Vascular Cognitive Impairment through Early Detection of Cardiovascular Diseases”
The focus of this call is on the prevention of vascular cognitive impairment through early detection of cardiovascular disease. Research projects should cover one of the following themes:
- Interdisciplinary approaches for the study of pathophysiological mechanisms involved in the development of vascular cognitive impairment, the development of diagnostic techniques, or new therapeutic approaches. These approaches can integrate biomedical research, physics, chemistry or systems biology.
- Research on risk and protective factors, particularly those related to sex or co-morbidities, in order to improve the understanding of the development and progression of vascular cognitive impairment.
The following research areas are excluded from this call: clinical trials, the creation of new cohorts or biobanks, the conduct of screens, and projects focusing mainly on Alzheimer's disease or neurodegenerative diseases.

Each consortium must include between 3 and 5 participants eligible for funding and belonging to at least 3 different countries participating in this call. The inclusion of poorly represented countries in the consortium such as Estonia, Latvia, Romania and Slovakia increases the maximum number of partners to 6. There should not be more than one participant per country or region, except for Spain and Belgium. The participation of additional partners on their own funding is possible but limited to one additional partner per consortium.
The ANR will exclusively finance the French partners of the selected projects, up to a maximum of € 250,000 per partner (maximum € 300,000 if the partner is the project coordinator).
Funding will be allocated for a maximum of three years.
This call will be organised in a one-stage selection procedure.
