EIG Concert-Japan / AI-Powered Robotics for Real-World Applications
This call invites Japan- and Europe-based researchers to submit research proposals which explore the intersection of AI and robotics, with an emphasis on adaptive robotics which learn and adapt during real-world operation, in order to acquire skills, improve performance or modify behaviour in real time while interacting with their environment. Research proposals should clearly demonstrate the tangible benefits to be provided by such AI-powered robotics, to areas of societal benefit such as industry, social services, logistics, e-commerce, disaster interventions and environmental applications, among others. Attention to safety and privacy considerations is also highly encouraged. Research is not limited to any specific technology, approaches or methods, and may address software and hardware aspects of robotics related to sensors, computer vision, big data acquisition, machine and deep learning (ML, DL), natural language processing (NLP), simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), and other AI related areas. By employing such technologies, projects may address various capabilities, including but not limited to advanced perception capabilities, manipulation and co-manipulation, learning and decision-making, and interaction with humans relevant to AI-powered robotics.
A detailed description of the topic, as well as the list of countries and regions participating in the call, is available on the EIG Concert-Japan website, on the 13th Concert-Japan Call webpage.
Partners in the selected projects will be funded directly by their respective national or regional organizations (agencies or ministries). Consequently, national or regional eligibility rules apply in addition to the transnational ones.
In particular, participants requesting funding from ANR must consult the document « Modalités de participation pour les partenaires sollicitant une aide de l’ANR », which is accessible on this page.
Throughout the process, the call secretariat is the central point of contact for all candidates:
