The challenge of energy storage DESCARTES (challenge on electro-chemical storage associated with remote controlled robots), in partnership with the DGA (Direction Générale de l’Armement), is in line with the current actions of the PROGELEC programme on Sustainable Electricity Production and Management.
The challenge Descartes falls within a process of innovation and development of the research trends to improve the results of the storage of electrical energy (electrochemical batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells, or their hybrids, etc.), mostly for both civilian and military applications.
Organised over three years, this challenge aims not only to assess and validate innovative compositions of materials, even in rupture, and new components for embedded energy storage, environmentally and compatible with the REACH regulations, but also to stimulate the creativity of research teams around a common technological objective.
The challenge DESCARTES is open to transnational consortia. However, only team members of the European Community and the Swiss Confederation countries are eligible. The foreign partner will have to ensure its own funding.
