Call for French-US Projects in Computational Neuroscience

ANR, NSF (National Science Foundation) and NIH (National Institutes of Health) in the United States launch a call for French-US research projects in computational neuroscience.

For this purpose, the program “Collaborative Research in Computational Neuroscience” of NSF and NIH, as described in NSF Solicitation 11-505 : http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2011/nsf11505/nsf11505.htm, is open to French participants.

Computational neuroscience is inclusively defined, encompassing a broad range of computational and biological goals and approaches.

French-US collaborations (at least one French partner and one US partner) are expected to exploit complementary expertise, enabling the collaborating investigators to pursue innovative research approaches and make significant advances on important and challenging problems.

The proposals will be evaluated according to NSF evaluation procedures (Lead Agency model) in coordination with ANR.

The US partners will be funded by NSF and NIH and the French partners by ANR.

The document « Modalités pour les participants français » introduces the modalities of the opening of the programme Collaborative Research in Computational Neuroscience: Innovative Approaches to Science and Engineering Research on Brain Function (CRCNS) to French-US projects. The instructions for French participants are complementary to the instructions of the CRCNS programme: www.nsf.gov/pubs/2011/nsf11505/nsf11505.htm.

1.    Submission Modalities
The French and US investigators prepare a joint proposal in English to be submitted to NSF (see § 4  of the document « Modalités pour les participants français »).  In parallel the French co-coordinator must send by E-mail the financial form for French participants to ANR together with an electronic copy of the joint proposal, as submitted to NSF, by November 9 (11:00 pm Paris local time).
