Generic call for proposals (AAPG): rebuttal stage for external reviews
Coordinators will be able to consult the expertise received and formulate a possible answer on the IRIS website. An email announcing the opening of the rebuttal stage will be sent to all coordinators of an eligible proposal on the opening date (note that the ineligibility of a project can be declared at any time during the selection process).

The external reviews are accessible only via the IRIS account of the project coordinator (the coordinator of the French part of a PRCI project).
The expert reviews are accessible by clicking on the "Rebuttal" link, then "Access the rebuttal" at the bottom of the drafting instructions.
There’s only one external review.
As stated in the AAPG Guide: “The objective is for each detailed proposal to be evaluated by at least two external reviewers (personalities not participating in the meetings of the scientific evaluation committee), proposed by the committee members assigned to the evaluation of the project and requested by the ANR after verification of the absence of conflict of interest.”
It may happen that the objective of an evaluation by "at least two external experts" cannot be achieved on the date of opening the rebuttal stage (case of projects relating to specific themes for example). In this case, you still have a “right of reply” to the external reviews, and your project will be evaluated individually not by two committee members but by three committee members.
Who is my answer for?
Each full proposal will be the subject of a summary presented in plenary meeting by two committee members on the basis of: (1) their own opinions on the proposal, (2) the content of the external reviews, (3) any response to these external reviews and (4) the full proposal from the previous edition of the call and the final report sent in the previous edition of the call (subject to having requested to benefit from the memory effect and being eligible for the process). Your response is therefore intended for the members of the scientific evaluation committee, it is systematically brought to their attention in plenary meeting and the committee is responsible for taking it into account. Thus, any response not intended to inform the members of the scientific evaluation committee of an inaccuracy will not be considered by the committee.
The content of the external reviews does not prejudge the decision of the scientific evaluation committee. The majority of external reviewers only evaluate a single project submitted to the AAPG call; committee members have their own opinion on the project – based on the evaluation criteria published in the text of the call – and a competitive vision of the projects submitted to the committee in the same funding instrument that the external reviewers do not have.
Considering that committee members are not necessarily French-speaking, we strongly recommend that you write your rebuttal in English.
How do I know if I'm not adding information?
Your answer must be factual. If you cannot support your answer by relying on paragraphs or figures included in your full proposal or by a section of your CV (as completed at the closing date and time in IRIS), then your answer is not in the expected format. Please note: this is not intended to enter into a theoretical or methodological debate, but rather to point out and correct a possible inaccuracy contained in an external review. Therefore, any answer not intended to inform the members of the scientific evaluation committee of an inaccuracy will not be considered by the committee.
I would like to attach a certificate, an article or a letter of commitment to my rebuttal.
The rebuttal is intended solely to inform committee members of any inaccuracy contained in an external review. Since full proposals are evaluated on the basis of the information submitted on IRIS on the date and time of the closing of stage 2, within the limit of a 20-page scientific document and the single CV framework, no additional information may be added. The answer must therefore be included in the "text" field available on IRIS.
In which language should I write my response?
As your answer is intended for members of the scientific evaluation committee and the evaluation may involve non-French-speaking committee members, we recommend that you write your answer in English.
The external reviews received do not contain any inaccuracies.
Please indicate that the external reviews do not contain any inaccuracies and that, consequently, you did not need to use your “right of reply”. This will ensure that you have had access to the external reviews and therefore the lack of answer is solely due to the absence of an inaccuracy to correct.
