MonPsy&AI – MonPsyAI
The mental health challenge is, first and foremost, an organizational one. In a context marked by a shortage of professionals and fragmented care pathways, current practices and systems are overwhelmed and no longer meet the growing needs of the population. Despite being essential, the perspective of users remains largely ignored—even though it is a powerful lever for improving care quality in real time and shaping health policy. The lack of data on patient experience also hinders innovation: without this dimension, health AI systems remain focused on clinical and biological data, falling short of true personalization of care.
Existing tools for measuring patient experience—PROMs (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures) and PREMs (Patient-Reported Experience Measures)—while scientifically validated, remain rigid, time-consuming, and poorly integrated into practice. As a result: little data, little impact.
MonPsy&AI proposes a dual breakthrough—both technological and organizational: a conversational AI designed to enable large-scale, fluid, and scientifically robust collection of patient experience. By structuring a reliable channel of expression for users, it turns lived experience into a lever for action—to personalize care, guide organizational strategy, and fuel the intelligent health systems of tomorrow.
MonPsy&AI is a Joint Laboratory (LabCom) that brings together the psychometric expertise of CEReSS and the conversational AI know-how of the start-up Aliae, with the aim of rethinking how patient experience data is collected and analyzed. The goal: to make PROMs and PREMs more accessible, interactive, and scalable.
CEReSS (Aix-Marseille University) is a national leader in the development of psychometric tools, particularly Computerized Adaptive Tests (CAT) based on Item Response Theory (IRT). Its platform MonPsy&Moi®, unique in France, enables secure, real-time collection of PROMs and PREMs, directly usable in clinical practice.
Aliae, for its part, designs intelligent conversational agents capable of dynamically adapting their dialogue through Natural Language Processing (NLP). These technologies allow PROMs and PREMs to be embedded into natural, engaging conversations. Aliae’s partnership with the Centre Psychothérapique de Nancy facilitates the integration of these solutions into psychiatric care pathways.
The first prototype developed will focus on medication experience: perceived effectiveness, side effects, satisfaction... It will lead to the creation of the first PREMs/PROMs-CAT-AI, combining IRT and NLP to transform patient exchanges into standardized, valid, and actionable data. By ensuring comparable metrics regardless of the interaction format, this approach enhances the relevance of evaluations and feeds into clinical practice, research, and health policy.
While this initial use case is anchored in mental health, the underlying technology is designed to scale across other sectors: social sciences, UX research, public policy evaluation, market research, and more. By facilitating the dissemination of intelligent PROMs and PREMs, MonPsy&AI aims to set a new international standard in experience and outcome measurement, with strong potential for global deployment.
