Women and sciences at UHA – FEMSCI
Under the AAPG SAPS-CSTI-Générique22, the eligible projects submitted by UHA are as follows:
- JCJC / ANR-22-CE36-0002 / CRESCENDO: Adapted physical activity to act on the symptoms of endometriosis: The CRESCENDO (acCRoitre l'Exercice physique et le Sport pour Combattre l'endométriose) programme
- PRC / ANR-22-CE08-0008 / MULTI-NANO-ULHC: Multiscale methodology based on experimentation and modelling to design ultra-hard metal/nitride nanostratified coatings
One striking observation is that the two coordinators of these selected ANR projects are women scientists. This observation inspired a desire to structure the response to this call for projects around the promotion of women in science.
The ‘FEMSCI - Women and Science’ project was thus born. It involves the creation of two 2-minute videos, designed to promote and enhance scientific and technical careers among girls and young women. These videos will be based on interviews with female researchers involved in the ANR projects mentioned above. Their aim is to raise public awareness of the research carried out as part of these projects, while highlighting the issues, methods and scientific results obtained. To make these videos accessible and engaging, a variety of formats will be used, including interviews, ‘graphic facilitation’ cartoons, graphic animations and experimental sequences. This work will be carried out in close collaboration between the researchers, La Nef des Sciences and the director.
The main aim of these videos is to promote the figure of women scientists, to encourage young girls and women to consider careers in science, and to deconstruct the stereotypes that often hold back their academic and professional careers. By dismantling preconceived ideas about women's abilities, these videos aim to inspire young women not to limit themselves in their choice of scientific career and to encourage them to overcome social and cultural barriers. In this way, the project aims to open up new perspectives for the younger generation, showing them that science and research are accessible and exciting fields, whatever their gender.
