Paris Sciences & Lettres Avec et Pour la Société – ANR21 – PSLAPS-ANR21

Submission summary

PSL, a signatory of the Charter for Participatory Research and Science of 20 March 2017, has set up an operational governance system that guarantees the development, validation by the governing bodies and implementation of an original Knowledge Sharing policy.

This policy aims to

- Promote a form of outreach that is based not so much on imparting knowledge in a given scientific field, but on making full use of its broad range of disciplines to address the major issues facing society in all their complexity.

- Complementing mediation initiatives aimed at the general public, schoolchildren and teachers with specific initiatives aimed at professional audiences: associations, entrepreneurs, political decision-makers, professionals from the world of culture.

PSL's strategy is based around four key areas: promoting research and its challenges to all audiences, training in mediation, promoting scientific expertise in the media and involving citizens in research. PSL has been awarded the label Sciences Avec et Pour la Société by the MESRI in 2021.

The institutions carrying ANR JCJC and PRC 2021 projects identified by the ANR and falling within the scope of Université PSL are ENS-PSL (15 projects), Institut Curie (14 projects), ESPCI Paris-PSL (6 projects), Dauphine-PSL (5 projects), Observatoires Paris-PSL (4 projects), Collége de France (3 projects) and Mines Paris-PSL (3 projects), ESPCI Paris-PSL (6 projects), Dauphine-PSL (5 projects), Observatoires de Paris-PSL (4 projects), Collége de France (3 projects), Mines Paris-PSL (3 projects), EPHE-PSL (1 project), and ENSAD (1 project).

They have all agreed that the response to the AAP will be coordinated by PSL's Knowledge Sharing mission. In addition, PSL and the Paris Centre delegation of the CNRS have agreed to coordinate their respective local actions according to their specific characteristics and complementarities.

The project is steered by the Knowledge Sharing mission, the financial department and the PSL University communications department. This team ensures that the quality of the project and expenditure is monitored. As a scientific committee, it relies on the "PSL-Partage des Savoirs" working group. The steering structure interacts directly with the project coordinators, as it has begun to do, by providing local community management (i) through the working group, which includes a representative from each institution, (ii) by creating a dedicated action within the Partage des Savoirs network.

Several types of action, ranging from experimental conferences to the organisation of professional debates, laboratory visits, an exhibition and an ambitious media plan, have already been proposed to project sponsors.

All of these initiatives will be evaluated by the PSL Knowledge Sharing working group, on the basis of materials drawn up by TRACES, PSL's CSTI partner.
