Prism-free portable SPR imaging sensor for biological particles counting – PROSPER
The aim of this project is to explore a new design for a low-cost, portable, planar SPR imaging system for the visualisation and counting of biological particles (viruses, bacteria, vesicles). It will be based on a grating etched in a plastic substrate and will enable single-use diagnostics. Detection and counting will be carried out in binary mode, with capture in the aqueous phase and reading in the gas phase. The array design will be optimised for binary detection and high spatial resolution imaging, taking advantage of the absence of prism-induced aberrations and the localised distribution of the plasmonic field that can reduce the plasmon propagation length. The system will be validated on a medical application for bacteria present in urinary tract infections in women
