Illustrated exhibition of USPN scientific results – EUREKA
The Sorbonne Paris Nord University (USPN) is a major teaching and research centre located north of Paris. It has five campuses, spread over the two departments of Seine-Saint-Denis and Val d'Oise: Villetaneuse, Bobigny, Saint-Denis, la Plaine Saint-Denis and Argenteuil. It is a founding member of the Condorcet Campus, one of the world's leading research centres in the humanities and social sciences, and of the Sorbonne Paris-Cité alliance.
USPN is a university with a strong diversity in research, education and in a rapidly changing territory. It takes its place in the national and international scientific landscape, and is also an actor of and in its territory. The appointment of a Science With and For Society (SAPS) officer in September 2022 affirms the commitment of the USPN to strengthen the dialogue with the territory, by being a force of proposal in its environment and by initiating concrete actions. The SAPS mission is built around four axes: mediation, training, network animation and the organisation of federative events.
In 2020, two USPN professors were awarded a prize in the ANR's generic call for projects. First, the HighAGT project coordinated by Bruno Valette of the Analysis, Geometry and Applications Laboratory (LAGA). This project is dedicated to the study of topological invariants, complex mathematical objects that are nevertheless applied to very concrete everyday domains. The second project is PULSE, led by Sébastien Forget from the Laser Physics Laboratory (LPL). This project is dedicated to the study of organic lasers. Organic electronics is a sustainable alternative to traditional electronics on silicon and is already used in most smartphone screens.
To extend the success of these projects, the USPN wishes to set up mediation actions that are in line with its four structuring axes. The funding of this EUREKA project will allow us to work with illustrators and designers to create an exhibition that will be inaugurated in October 2023 on the occasion of the "Fête de la Sicence" Festival. Thanks to the collaboration with associations and libraries in Seine Saint Denis, the exhibition will continue to reach out to the public in 2024.
