Evaluation of photobiomodulation potential to slow down Huntington's disease – Light4HD
Photobiomodulation, or light therapy, slow down the neurodegenerative process in models of Parkinson's disease. Other studies illustrate that light limit some symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. Huntington's disease is a neurodegenerative disease without any treatment, and presenting several similarities with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. We would like to assess if photobiomodulation has a therapeutic potential to slow down Huntington's disease. For this we plan a study on a mouse model of Huntington's disease: the animals will be illuminated , early in the disease progression; at the end of the study, we will compare the motor and cognitive symptoms of control (untreated) and light-treated mice, and will evaluate by histology whether the light has allowed neuroprotection.
