Artificial Intelligence – Diagnostic Imaging of Adrenal Lesions – AI-DIAL
AI-DIAL aims to decrease the rate of unnecessary adrenal surgery by more accurate diagnostics and improved surgical planning. We will build and exploit an unrivaled retrospective database of >1500 adrenal surgery patients. Artificial intelligence (AI) use will enable a more detailed image feature analysis than conventional radiology, therefore enhance lesion characterization, and ultimately prediction of the histopathological diagnosis. The use of 3D image models in conjunction with AI prediction of histopathology will further enable precise operative planning, to maximize preservation of healthy tissue during complete tumor removal. AI-DIAL benefits from a unique environment for translational research, strengthening a Franco-German collaboration and involving seasoned clinical and scientific expertise in image-guided adrenal surgery and AI. The ambition of AI-DIAL is to validate this novel concept of AI-based treatment of adrenal tumors in a multidisciplinary research team and pan-European network context.
