Communication, Open science mediation from Paris Brain Institute


Created in 2010, the Paris Brain Institute is an international scientific and medical research center of excellence, located in Paris at the heart of the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital. Through an innovative model bringing together patients, clinicians, researchers, and entrepreneurs the final goal is to better understand the brain and accelerate the discovery of new treatments for central nervous system diseases.

In accordance with its historical and founding values, the Paris Brain Institute offers rich and varied communication to inform the greatest number of people about research progress from its 25 teams. Today, this communication is carried out on a regional and national scale, through events such as in situ events, debates between researchers and the general public, updated written or video contents published on the Institute's website and social networks, and online conferences.

The Paris Brain Institute benefits from a communication and development department, whith a team of about ten people in charge of communication, and a medical and scientific affairs department (DAMS) whose main mission is to support researchers in developing internal collaborations, obtaining competitive national and international grants, and developing partnerships.
These two departments work daily and closely with the researchers and maintain regular and fluid relations with the academic partners, which facilitates the coordination of projects such as COSMIC proposed in this call for proposals.

The communication on the 7 projects supported by the ANR, which is the subject of this application, is fully integrated into the Institute's 2022 communication plan.
Thanks to tools and media adapted to each thematic addressed by these research topics, researchers, their teams and the scientific results obtained will be accessible and visible to the greatest number.

We propose to highlight three projects through didactic videos of researchers presenting the relationship between the visual cortex and learning.
In 2023, we will organize an Open Brain Bar, a place for exchanges between the Institute's researchers and the general public on the benefits of sleep on creativity and memory.

One of the projects will be publicized during World MS Day on May 30.

A special focus will be made on mirroring movements in the Institute's quarterly newsletter in August 2022.

Videos of the coordinating researchers of the other projects will implement the pages dedicated to the concerned diseases on the Institute's website.

Through videos, podcasts, media, and debates, the Brain Institute can promote the research supported by ANR and to disseminate the scientific advances that will result from toward a huge public.
