New Soidarity and Resilience in times of crisis – NEOSOILID-R

Submission summary

This project focuses on local initiatives eminent in the health, economic and social crisis caused by the coronavirus epidemic. We will focus on “third places” and local initiatives, more or less formal, of pooling and exchange of resources (goods, services, etc.). We will be interested in the way in which these initiatives were at the origin of the constitution of collectives oriented towards a common action aiming at solving the problems linked to the crisis and, by extension, at taking charge locally of the daily problems in a logic of resilience. The project has three main areas of work. The first will focus on the effects of the health crisis on inequalities and vulnerabilities. The second will focus on local initiatives that have made it possible to counteract these logics by developing responses that promote individual and collective resilience. Finally, the third will seek to identify the conditions making possible the dissemination or even the duplication of experiences that have emerged in specific contexts. It will thus be a question of giving oneself the means to develop supports for the promotion of citizen self-organization as well as project engineering relating to the resolution of problems by those who are directly confronted by them by elucidating a central question : how to bring together individuals from distant social backgrounds within projects working for the common good in a crisis situation and how to maintain these collectives once the crisis has passed? Answering this fundamental question from the point of view of the social sciences will thus give the possibility of designing concrete mechanisms to encourage and mobilize actors from various backgrounds.
