EuroHPC_2019-2 - Innovating and Widening the HPC use and skills base 2021

EUROCC - National Competence Centres in the framework of EuroHPC – EUROCC

EuroCC : National Competence Centre on HPC HPDA and AI

Central points of contact for HPC and related technologies to federate the HPC ecosystem and support you in the use of high performance computing, high performance data analysis and artificial intelligence.

National Competence Centre services

The Competence Centre provide skills mapping, training and service offerings for HPC, HPDA (High Performance)<br />Data Analytics) and AI (Artificial Intelligence). The Centre offers access to its offers and services: Awareness, Training, user support, marketplace...

Nous avons développé un programme d'accompagnement sur mesure adapté aux besoins des PME : Audit/Daignostic, expertise, formation, Preuve de concept, accés aux moyen de calculs

CC-FR, the NCC France has been established in France as single point of reference to SMEs, large companies and academia on HPC, HPDA, AI and Quantum Computing. CC-FR proposes different services to develop the adoption of such technologies:

Support of SMEs: CC-FR has developed a tailored program to support SME on the use of HPC, HPDA & AI through a network of 21 Mesocentres (advice, audit, diagnostic, codes development/optimisation, access and use of HPC or AI computing resources, funding...)

We Started more than 35 POC & projects, 17 in M13-M28 with industry on HPC, AI and Quantum computing, in different sectors. 10 POC are already finalized, 5 success stories shared

HPC architectures mapping: TO develop the adaption of HPC architectures, we produced the analysis of availability, accessibility and applicability of 40 existing and new emerging HPC architectures.

Marketplace CC-FR: In order to make accessible ecosystems, skills, competences, trainings, and service offerings on Simulation, HPC, HPDA and AI, CC-FR has created and deployed a MarketPlace in open source free of charge. The MarketPlace is on line since 20/05/22:
•139 user profiles, 45 organizations and 447 service offerings registered
•POC with NCC Belgium to adapt and use the MarketPlace CC-FR
•Collaboration with CASTIEL to scale up the MarketPlace CC-FR at European level

In terms of perspective, with the 34 countries that form the European network of competence centres, we will deploy EUROCC2.

EUROCC: National Competence Centers on HPC / HPDA / IA Technologies

Within the EuroCC project under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 (H2020), 36 participating countries are tasked with establishing a single National Competence Centre (NCC) in the area of high-performance computing (HPC) in their respective countries. These NCCs will coordinate activities in all HPC-related fields at the national level and serve as a contact point for customers from industry, science, (future) HPC experts, and the general public alike. The
EuroCC project is funded 50 percent through H2020 (EuroHPC Joint Undertaking [JU]) and 50 percent through national funding programs within the partner countries.

The National Competence Centres will provide competences, training and services offerings mapping for the technologies of HPC, high-performance data analytics (HPDA) and artificial intelligence (AI). The NCC will also propose services as well as the coordination of services such as business development, application support, technology transfer, training and education, and access to expertise. Researchers from academia and industry both benefit from this competence concentration, and more efficient research ultimately benefits state and national governments and society as a whole.

The National Competence Centres will act as the first points of contact for HPC, HPDA and AI in their respective countries. The NCCs will bundle information and provide experts, offer access to expertise and HPC training and education. The overall objective of EuroCC — to create a European base of excellence in HPC by filling existing gaps — comes with a clear vision: offering a broad portfolio of services in all HPC, HPDA, and AI-related areas, tailored to the needs of industry, science, and public administrations.

Collaboration Between EuroCC and CASTIEL : EuroCC works closely together with the Coordination and Support Action (CSA) CASTIEL, which links the national centres throughout Europe and ensures successful transfer and training possibilities between the participating countries.
