Acid-Base Functionalization of Electrocatalysts Surfaces for Solid Oxide Cells – BATELCAT

Submission summary

The efficiency of electrode materials in solid oxide cells can be dramatically impacted by surface acidity. BATELCAT aims at using a simple infiltration protocol to modify the acidity of the surface of a wide range of mixed conducting metal oxides and systematically study their catalytic activity toward gas-solid reactions happening at the air and fuel electrodes. The goal is to better understand the relationship between surface acidity and reaction kinetics on oxides, which will help improving the performance and durability of solid oxide electrolysers and fuel cells.
