Extended machine vision control capabilities using digital holography & artificial neural networks – HOLO-CONTROL

Submission summary

HOLO-CONTROL aims to explore multiscale sensitivity in the positioning of samples versus the six degrees of freedom (DoF) by digital holography to perform sub-voxel measurements in real-time. A key novelty of the project will be the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) harnessing Artificial Neural Network (ANN) architectures for advanced functionality. The instrumentation developed at the level of micro-positioning platforms in robotics requires translation and/or rotation stages according to several directions of space. The tasks associated with these devices are increasingly complex, and nanoscale positioning resolution is required while simultaneously maintaining a large-scale movements range beyond the centimeter range. The project will identify how to accelerate such advanced acquisition-methods to target real time applications. Applications addressed in the project include digital auto-focusing and micro-scale 6DoF position measurements of micro-objects.
