From fantasies to problematic sexual behavior and sexual violence in youth aged 18 to 25 – FRIDA
Paraphilic sexual fantasies are an undeniable risk factor of sexual violence (e.g. fantasies of domination or sadism in the case of rape). However, it is difficult to distinguish between normophilic and paraphilic fantasies, and it is not just their content that poses a problem amongst sexual offenders, but their inadequacy, fixation and recurrence, associated with poor mentalization capacity and executive control. Neurocognitive factors and their neuroanatomical bases play a major role in the origin of violent behaviors. A third of young people experience coercive sexual relations during their studies (mostly not reported to the police). The aim of this study is to evaluate the factors underlying the emergence of coercive or paraphilic sexual behaviors taking a biopsychosocial approach (environmental, psychological, neuropsychological, including neuroanatomical).
