recommenDer servIce for SusTaInabLe cLoud nativE softwaRe – DISTILLER
Cloud computing keeps gaining more and more attraction from companies and stakeholders by offering a flexible and convenient environment to host online software services. Nevertheless, the cloud ecosystem is getting more and more concerned by the environmental footprint of the massive digitalisation of the economy for which cloud computing plays a key role. Beyond the hardware-level optimisations that have been implemented to reduce the power consumption of data centers, this proposal— named DISTILLER—aims to support software engineers in delivering more sustainable cloud native software by configuring their software ecosystems with sustainability in mind. This challenge requires not only to design a new sustainability index for evaluating software artefacts, but also to build new configuration tools to incorporate sustainability-driven recommendations in order to guide the decision of development teams. DISTILLER will pave the way to new generations of energy-efficient cloud software
