Reactivity-Based Natural Product Discovery – REVERY
Natural products represent a significant part of the drugs currently used. However, the discovery of new compounds is hampered by the isolation process which is often based on extraction and chromatography techniques. These methods, although essential, are inefficient when it comes to isolating compounds in minute amount. In this project, we want to develop an approach based on the use of the intrinsic reactivity of functions carried by the natural product. Thus, even minor compounds may be trapped, detected and identified. To do this, we will use mass tags and functionalized probes bearing immolables linkers, so as to isolate natural products. Fungal extracts will be studied and azaphilic molecules will be targeted in a first time
