Functional reactors to push the boundaries of mechanochemistry – FunctioMill
Mechanochemistry is an innovative technology, which has many advantages over solution chemistry (short reaction times, reactions without solvent, different selectivity, etc). While mechanochemistry is an exceptional technique that opens up the field of possibilities, some limitations remain, especially when we are interested in supported chemistry and in situ monitoring. Thus, the FunctioMill project will focus on the functionalization of commercial reactors/balls and innovative reactors designed during the project, so as to provide surface reactivity to promote various reactions of interest in fine chemistry. The objectives will be to validate this approach and obtain reactors/balls with properties suitable for each application, while looking at the reaction mechanisms involved and the surface/reagents interactions.
