Doctoral studies in AI in Lille – AI_PhD@Lille
The AI_PhD@Lille program is proposed by the University of Lille (ULille) in collaboration with the Inria center of Lille in the context of the Initiatives for Science, Innovation, Territories and Economy (I-SITE) ULNE. It is a complementary application to the one of Centrale Lille.
ULille and Inria are fully involved in the regional humAIn alliance that aims at proposing a human-friendly Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In this context the AI_PhD@Lille program objective is to bring contributions for the acceptability challenge, working on two aspects:
i/ on the heart of AI, providing intelligible explanations for predictions and decisions
ii/ on the interface between users and AI, transferring the AI approaches to fields of application.
For the first point, the AI_PhD@Lille program benefits from high-level researches that are conducted in Information Technology (IT) labs of the University as well as is the Inria Center of Lille.
For the second point, the AI_PhD@Lille program takes advantage of the 65 research units that cover all disciplines in order to consider AI in an interdisciplinary manner. For example, epistemological, ethical, sociological issues are decisive for the development of a responsible and sustainable AI that is acceptable to its users. A specific application domain considered is health, and in particular the prediction and analysis of care pathways in chronic diseases.
In order to be successful this program will propose an attractive salary, specific accompanying measures and scientific animations. For this point, the program can rely on a rich environment: for example, but not exhaustive the humAIn alliance for the scientific animation, the I-Site ULNE for the future graduate schools and strategy of research, the Pearl project (H2020-MSCA Cofund) for initiatives of welcoming students that can be translated to this program or the socio-economic environment for the intersectoral exposures and the sensibilisation to entrepreneurship.
