Doctoral programme in Artificial Intelligence at Aix-Marseille Université – AIDoc@AMU
Aix-Marseille University (AMU) via the A*Midex Foundation is a candidate for the call “Contrats doctoraux en Intelligence artificielle établissement”. The doctoral programme AIDoc@AMU we propose within the framework of this call is in line with the policy pursued in recent years by AMU, which has enhanced the site's areas of scientific and pedagogical excellence while promoting interdisciplinarity and has made Aix-Marseille one of the 4 French sites recognised by an international jury through the definitive attribution of the label "Initiative d'Excellence". Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the interdisciplinary areas identified by the AMU Scientific Orientation Committee as crucial for the future of research and its preservation at the best level world-wide.
Our project fits into a proactive initiative to develop AI in its two aspects, both in fundamental and applied research around the strategic axis of health. These fields are highly competitive on a global level. The growth of data sciences (including AI, machine learning, etc.) requires a particular effort in order to be at the forefront of a major evolution. One key is undoubtedly to design the systems of the future by integrating all the actors from the very beginning. This is our objective in this call for projects, which breaks with the traditional development practice that separates instrumentation, data analysis and applications. Thus, interdisciplinarity and a well-defined positioning on the strategic axis of health are at the heart of our project. We aim to structure a continuum, from fundamental to applied AI especially for health.
In addition to working on the interaction between theoretical and applied research in artificial intelligence, our efforts in this project will be devoted to:
• Strengthen the inter-disciplinary relationship between Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics and Health
• Foster the incoming mobility of international students,
• Promote the applicability and transfer of our results to the socio-economic world.
