TecSan - Technologies pour la santé et l'autonomie 2013

Design of medical devices in textiles optimized for gynecological surgery. Application for the treatment of female genital prolapse – PELVINOV

Submission summary

The aim of this collaboration is to produce textile reinforcement implants for the treatment of genital prolapse. Existing devices are currently not very deformable. These implants are indeed derived from those used in surgery (hernia) and have not been specifically developed, especially on their mechanical properties. This results in many failures and recurrences and other sensations of irritation and discomfort in many patients. The research of Dr. Cosson and his team have evaluated the mechanical behavior of the pelvic tissues. The results and knowledge of this team will be used by the companies DYLCO and ABISS to design implants in textile, that once integrated tissue will have a mechanical behavior similar to healthy tissue and therefore be better tolerated.
