Hospital : optimization, simulation and avoidance of strain. – HOST
In the healthcare management, the control of the healthcare flows and the anticipation of the tensions are major issues. Decisions makers must control the tensions such peaks of activities and congestion of services that are related to patient and healthcare processes flows. However, they don’t have enough methodologies and tools for decision support and adapted control.
The HOST project aims to study and develop the modeling, the optimization and the implementation of a Decision Support System to anticipate the tension of the hospital and to prepare proposals avoidance these tensions. Emergency and hospitalization pediatric areas are particularly representative of these tensions in the hospital. The medical context of study and experimentation used for the HOST project relates to these sectors, situations of care winter outbreak of infections in young children, episodes partly predictable, but complex and volatile.
The HOST project will identify, extract and model the tension indicators for the hospital by leveraging information from multiple heterogeneous sources: medical information, city or hospital and epidemiological information. He will then lead to develop a support system capable of modeling the appearance of tension and propose the anticipation of tension thus established, using innovative computer models such as the multi-agent systems, fuzzy logic. This system will be evaluated in two aspects: relevance of proposed outcomes and ergonomic aspects. It will seek to identify and model corrective actions for the conduct of business processes, to avoid the most anticipated tensions. The HOST project and report to the technological challenge which is consisted of developing a polyvalent Decision Support system in order to anticipate the tension within health facilities. The impact and methods identified for the study setting selected can be generalized to the entire hospital.
To carry out this project, we have a consortium of excellence composed of computer research teams recognized for their work in healthcare, the home team Lille2 combining clinical teams including emergency physicians, epidemiologists , ergonomists and researchers in statistics and computer specialists in the modeling and processing of medical information of CHRU of Lille and an industrialist.
