Dynamiques et médiations des savoirs géographiques – MEDIAGEO
MEDIAGEO proposal ' Geographical knowledge dynamics and mediations ' deals with the modes of production and use of current geographical knowledge, taking into account changes associated particularly with information technologies (geopositioning systems'). Our approach is characterized by: - The contextualization of knowledge production, scrutinized through its networking and level of social capillarity, places of production and diffusion patterns, according to every scale and differentiated 'fieldworks'. The essential condition to understand and question contemporary innovation is to consider the production of knowledge as historicised networks beyond academic places. - The covering of non-scientific as well as non-academic geographical knowledge. The aim of this research is to identify the nature, the workings, and the functionality of a knowledge we qualify as 'profane'. Our hypothesis is that the different 'families' of knowledge that circulate outside the academic field have to be questioned alongside intellectual as well as social and political issues. - A deeper analysis of the relationships between aesthetics and science. This dimension is essential in the current reshaping of the conceptualizations and practices of space, including iconic buildings. These modes of geographical knowledge production and circulation will be questioned through the basis of a co-production by every actor, whatever their status. This will highlight two couples: producers/users and production/writing. For the latter, the proposal underlines the necessary analysis of the diverse geo-graphical modes of restitution (textual, map-based, photographical, internet websites').
