Kurt Gödel philosophe : de la logique à la cosmologie – Gödel

Submission summary

The aim of the project is to deepen the study of the relationship between science and philosophy in Gödel's work. The project will gather qualified experts coming from the different areas that Gödel has studied : logic, set theory, general relativity and cosmology, Leibniz, Kant and Husserl. The first step of the project is to complete the transcription from Gabelsberger of relevant material in Gödel's Nachlass and to undertake a critical analysis of this material in order to publish it. Here the project's aim is to put Gödel's corpus at scholar's disposal since Gabelsberger shorthand and location of the Nachlass in Princeton are material obstacles to the development of godelian studies. The end of the project is to test two new hypotheses about Gödel thought. 1) This thought is towered above by a metaphysics of leibnizian inspiration ; the main expression of this metaphysics being Gödel's theory of concepts which dominates set theory. 2)Theoretical physics is a branch of logic. In opposition to mathematics, physics is not essentially incomplete and its progress depend of a sound choice of its axioms.
