Appointment of the ANR’s new Scientific Advisory Panel

The first meeting of the new CPS was held on Thursday, 12 June 2025. Its members discussed the 2026 Action Plan and orientations for the 2026-2028 triennial period, as well as future issues for the ANR (impact on research of the international context, preparation of the Objectives and Performance Contract with the French government, the uses of artificial intelligence, etc.). The CPS will contribute to reflections on the Agency’s major strategic orientations.
Presided by Serge Abiteboul, the new CPS consists of the following figures:
- figures external to the ANR chosen for their scientific and technical expertise in the Agency’s fields of activity,
- figures from the socioeconomic world chosen for their expertise in the functioning and constraints of national funding agencies for research, development, and innovation,
- the directors of ANR scientific departments.

Missions of the ANR Scientific Advisory Panel
The CEO of the ANR calls on the CPS in particular for:
- the preparation of the Agency’s annual action plan and its review report;
- the implementation of evaluation efforts for research offerings and impact analysis;
- the creation or elimination of the Agency’s scientific departments, their naming and scope of activity;
- the appointment of scientific department directors and the renewal of their duties.
The CPS can also be consulted for its opinion by the Governing Board or the CEO.
The committee’s composition, member appointment methods, and governance rules are governed by the Ministerial order of 10 September 2015 relating to the French National Research Agency’s scientific advisory panel.
