Spatio-Temporal Analysis by Recognition within Complex Images for Remote Sensing of Environment – ASTERIX
The ASTERIX project aims to contribute to basic research in computer science and its applications in the remote sensing of environment. Environment persevering policies still rely on tools with limited functionalities. Extracting landscape patterns from advanced image analysis methods will bring an additional source of information to help understanding the observed changes.
Spatially resolved Ecosystem models and their Application to Marine MANagement – SEAMAN
SEAMAN is a project within the program EraNET SEAS-ERA.SEAMAN aims to improve ecosystem understanding and modelling and involves 6 institutes in 4 countries.Hereby, the project brings together experts from different countries in Europe, focusing on different parts of the ecosystem from the physical environment, to plankton, fish, invasive species and pollutants.
Spatial Asymmetries across Languages: a Typological Approach – SALTA
The aim of this project is to investigate the conceptual domain of motion in space, with a focus on structural and functional asymmetries in the expression of path of motion, especially asymmetries linked to dynamic deixis, boundary-crossing and verticality, with a comparative study of 30 typologically and genealogically varied languages.
Space-based Observations of the ice Sheets: Ice mass changes evaluated from 2013 to present. – SOSIce
Sea level rise has become a challenge facing society due particularly to the ice sheets. The mass loss of the ice sheets is due to increased surface melt runoff and outflow of ice associated with current climate warming. Here, we propose to improve our understanding of the dynamic component. Indeed, the ice discharge modulated by changes in ice velocity and thickness changes remains the largest uncertainty in the current and future contribution of the ice sheets to sea level rise.

Southern natural heritage: a small-scale global history – PANSER
PANSER aims to analyze how, from Africa to Asia, from 1900 to nowadays, «experts« have been moving from one protected area to another and as a result, have been shaping an Afro-Asian bio-heritage area. Through six case studies (Congo, Ethiopia, Seychelles, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia), research intends to investigate the trajectories of these heritage-makers, study the negotiations and struggles enrooted into nature, and in doing so to explore a small-scale global history of natural heritage.
